An event is the whole occasion; functions are the separate gatherings within it.
Vesavo organises everything around two ideas: an event and its functions. Understanding the difference makes the rest of the app click into place.
What's the difference?
- An event is the whole occasion — your wedding, your gala, your birthday.
- A function is a single gathering within it — a ceremony, a reception, a rehearsal dinner.
Some occasions are just one gathering; others are several across a day or weekend. For example, a birthday dinner is usually one thing — a single function. A wedding is often many: a rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, and the reception, each with its own guests, timing and seating.
You'll be asked when you create your event
When you create an event, Vesavo asks whether it's just one thing or has multiple parts. Choose "Just one thing" and Vesavo sets up a single function for you behind the scenes. Choose "Multiple parts" and you'll build out each function yourself.
Why functions matter
RSVPs and seating happen per function, not per event. That means a guest can be invited to your ceremony and reception but not the rehearsal dinner — and they RSVP, and get a seat, for each function separately. It's what lets you run a whole weekend from one event.
Changed your mind? You can add or remove functions at any time, even after the event is set up.
